Greetings all,

It is time to “spring into summer!” We kicked off our spring activities with our annual “Spring Into Summer” get-together at 10 Mile Creek Brewery earlier this month. It was great to share our early-season Wilderness Walks and trail stewardship opportunities with the Helena community. In addition to Wild Montana’s Volunteer Trail Crew projects, our chapter has some projects planned as well, including a highway cleanup near Lincoln on Saturday, June 4, and a trail project in the Elkhorns. You can find more details about our summer stewardship projects in this newsletter.

I hope you’ll join us and spread the word for two events coming up. Our Wild Divide Chapter Board will be at Blackfoot River Brewery to help celebrate CDT Coalition’s 10th Birthday on Saturday, May 21, 4–8 p.m. Stop by to say hello and pick up a copy of our new “Wildlands of the Wild Divide” map! I’d also like to invite you to “A Wild Land Ethic” book signing with Wayne Chamberlin and Ron Stottlemyer on Thursday, May 26 from 6–7 p.m. at the Montana Book Company in downtown Helena. The book is dedicated to Wild Montana’s founders, Ken and Florence Baldwin, and showcases many awe-inspiring stories and photos of Montana’s wilderness.

Our Wild Divide Chapter Board meeting on May 11 was a most productive precursor to our upcoming June meeting devoted primarily to creative ideas for member involvement. Your thoughts are important. Please share them with us. Call me at 406-443-0994 or feel free to join us on June 8 at 6:15 p.m. for our next meeting at Wild Montana’s headquarters.

A few weeks ago we sent our new map, “Wildlands of the Wild Divide,” to all Wild Montana members in the Wild Divide Chapter. Look at it, study it, and most importantly use it as a guide to enjoy this spectacular part of the world we call home.

Thank you for your support of Wild Montana. Keep in touch and “Keep It Wild.”
