Wild Montana’s Wild Divide Chapter has entered into a partnership with the Helena/Lewis and Clark National Forest to assist with stewardship projects in central Montana.

For some time, we have been discussing adding our muscle power to projects the National Forest has identified. Our first efforts are complete. This spring, we placed five metal signs at points where illegal user-made trails appeared in the north Elkhorn Mountains. We have additional signs deterring the use of these illegal trails to place in the near future. Soon we hope to expand our stewardship work to include trail maintenance, trailhead care, and other work.

We hope to find additional work Wild Divide Chapter members can participate in. We will keep you posted on opportunities to give back to our wildlands.
