Lava Lake Celebration

Saturday, September 23, 2023
Free

NEAREST TOWN: Big Sky
MEETING TIME: 9 a.m.
MEETING LOCATION: Lava Lake Trailhead
DIFFICULTY: Strenuous (view difficulty ratings here)
ROUND-TRIP MILEAGE: 6 miles
LEADERS: Gloria Burgos & Tami Clark

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness on National Public Lands Day! We’ll hike to beautiful Lava Lake, an alpine wonder in the Spanish Peaks. This hike doubles as an opportunity to learn about how you can contribute to Wild Montana’s volunteer stewardship efforts in the area, including our Wilderness Stewards and Adopt-A-Trail programs. Participants can choose to hike or stay at the trail ambassador’s table if they want to volunteer immediately. We’ll finish the day with a celebratory cookout featuring brats and Lee Metcalf Wilderness Pale Ale at the trailhead.
