Saturday, May 18 (Early Season)

Wild Running on the CDT

Location: Lincoln
Miles/Difficulty: 13.5 miles/Extremely Strenuous
Leaders: Amelia Hagen-Dillon and Jessica Zephyrs

We will run from Rogers Pass to Flesher Pass along a spectacular stretch of the Continental Divide Trails with views across the plains, into the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and along the Rocky Mountain Front.

Sleeping Child Trail Run

Location: Darby
Miles/Difficulty: 15 miles/Extremely Strenuous
Leaders: Forrest Boughner and Sara Boughner

This challenging but casual trail run will bring us along a lightly traveled section of the Southern Sapphires during peak wildflower season.

Saturday, June 15 (Early Season)

South Fork of Lolo Creek (Hike Full)

Location: Lolo
Miles/Difficulty: 4 miles/Moderate
Leaders: Steve Seninger and Daphne Herling

We'll begin along snow-fed South Fork Lolo Creek, climb to a ridge with views to the west, and traverse through areas burned by the 2017 Lolo Peak Fire, enjoying wild flowers and forbs along the way.

Thursday, June 27 (Early Season)

Sunday Mountain (Hike Full)

Location: Seeley Lake
Miles/Difficulty: 6 miles/Strenuous
Leaders: Lee Boman and Gene Schade

Come hike what may be the quickest route to the crest of the Swan Range. Wiews of the Missions, Swans, and the Bob make it difficult to enjoy the wildflowers along the way.

Mount Headley 

Location: Thompson Falls
Miles/Difficulty: 8 miles/Strenuous
Leaders: Mark Sheets and Karen Sheets

Mount Headley is the highest point in the Cube Iron Roadless Area north of Thompson Falls, with great views of the Thompson River and the Cataract Roadless Area.

Sunday, July 7 (Early Season)

Hoodoo Pass to Heart Lake Overlook (Hike Full)

Location: Superior
Miles/Difficulty: 7 miles/Moderately Strenuous
Leaders: Chris Ryan and Pat Ryan

We'll hike east on the Stateline Trail into the Great Burn Recommended Wilderness, traveling through high meadows full of amazing wildflowers and offering outstanding views of the Great Burn.

Cube Iron Four Lakes Loop

Location: Thompson Falls
Miles/Difficulty: 8 miles/Strenuous

This hike ventures to the top of Cube Iron Mountain and through the Four Lakes Basin in the heart of the Cube Iron/Silcox Roadless area.

Ashley Lakes (Hike Full)

Location: Arlee
Miles/Difficulty: 4.5 miles/Moderately Strenuous
Leaders: Dave Robertson and Todd Kaye

Our hike will take us into the Mission Mountains Tribal Wilderness and through a part of the Grizzly Bear Conservation Zone.

St. Mary Peak

Location: Stevensville
Miles/Difficulty: 7 miles/Strenuous

This reasonably tough hike in the Bitterroot National Forest will reward us with an unparalleled viewshed of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.

Whitebark Pine and Fire Ecology

Location: Lolo
Miles/Difficulty: 7 miles/Strenuous
Leaders: Alina Cansler and Julee Shamhart

We'll hike into the whitebark pine stands that were burned by the 2017 Lolo Peak wildfire and discuss whitebark pine ecology and subalpine/alpine fire ecology.

Sunday, July 21 (Early Season)

Bass Creek Overlook 

Location: Stevensville
Miles/Difficulty: 2 miles/Easy
Leaders: Tim Peterson and George Borgen

This trail climbs gradually through Douglas fir and lodgepole forest with a scattering of wildflowers on the forest floor. We'll enjoy occasional views into Bass Creek along the way, topping out at an overlook of Bass Creek.

Wednesday, July 24 (Early Season)

Finley Lake (Hike Full)

Location: Arlee
Miles/Difficulty: 5 miles/Strenuous
Leaders: Dave Robertson and Todd Kaye

This hike travels up a beautiful canyon in the seldom-visited Jocko Mountains through a mix of lush forest and open hillside with great views of the unusually colorful canyon walls.

South Lost Horse Creek (Hike Full)

Location: Hamilton
Miles/Difficulty: 5 miles/Moderate
Leader: Nancy Brown and Karla Wiencek

After crossing over Lost Horse creek, we'll follow the creek through a plethora of huckleberry bushes and forest cover, obbserving interesting rock croppings above the trail before reaching a wonderful swimming hole.

This hike takes us up a beautiful canyon to a scenic mountain lake.

Glacier Lake (Hike Full)

Location: Seeley Lake
Miles/Difficulty: 3 miles/Easy
Leaders: Lee Boman and Gene Schade

This family-friendly hike will take us into the Mission Mountain Wilderness Area. Bridges provide easy stream crossings before we end up at a beautiful lake.

Baker Lakes Stewardship Project

Location: Darby
Miles/Difficulty: 4.5 miles/Moderate

PLEASE NOTE: This hike occurs in the Late Season but sign-ups occur during the Early Season due to Forest Service needs. Please sign up for this project by Friday, May 31st.

We'll hike along stunning high-alpine cirques to Middle and Gem Lakes. Once there, we'll clean campfire rings, collect monitoring data, and pick up trash.
