And the winners are...

HELENA, Mont. — The Montana Wilderness Association is pleased to announce the winners of the fourth annual Picture Wild Montana photo contest.

More than 1,000 photos were submitted by just over 250 different photographers in this year’s contest, which ran from the middle of September until late October. Hosted entirely online, the contest allowed contestants to compete for more than $1,000 in prizes in six different categories; Montana’s Wild Rocky Mountain Front, Wild Northwestern Montana, Montana Wildlife, Montana Wild Landscapes, Montana Wildflowers and People in Montana’s Wild Places.

“There were so many amazing photos of people, wild places and wildlife this year it was a challenge picking the winners,” said photo contest judge and professional photographer Jeff Van Tine. “You just can’t go wrong picking up a camera and heading outdoors into Montana’s wild places. These aren’t things you see if you are just sitting around the house.”

Photos were judged for their artistic value, content, composition, originality and technical expertise. In addition to entries being judged by a panel of judges, this year MWA also awarded prizes to overall and category winners selected by popular vote on the MWA website.

MWA congratulates the winners:
