Volunteer Trail Stewardship Program

Click on the arrow in the photo above to watch short feature clip about CDT Montana.

Check out the Volunteer tab (at the bottom of page or to the right) to choose your adventure on the CDT this summer. No charge for projects. We feed you, provide leadership, supply all group gear and tools. You just bring personal camping gear (sleeping bag, sleeping pad and tent) and willingness to help out.

Since 1978, the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail was designated to provide for high quality, scenic, primitive hiking, horseback riding, and non-motorized recreational experiences, and to conserve natural, historical and cultural resources along the divide.

With 3100 miles snaking from Canada to Mexico, the CDNST is only 78% complete. And did you know that the largest unfinished section is the Montana/Idaho section at only 58% complete.

With dedicated volunteers and agency partners, the Montana Wilderness Association is working to complete the CDNST and we need YOUR help to get the job done. Please check out the volunteer opportunities we have each summer or make a contribution to support our volunteers in the field. Together we can complete the CDT!

Volunteer on the CDT

From 8 to 80 years old - we work with all kinds of volunteers throughout Montana and Idaho on the CDT. Volunteer with us this summer!
