Volunteer opportunities with MWA
From swinging pulaskis to stuffing envelopes, and leading hikes to sharing writing talents, we'd love for you to join our community of volunteers. We've listed a few ideas below, but the opportunities are endless. Contact Kassia Randzio at firstname.lastname@example.org or (406) 830-6035 to talk about how you'd like to lend your time and talent to protect Montana's wildlands.
Lead a Wilderness Walk
One of our signature programs, Wilderness Walks provides opportunities for thousands of people to explore Montana's wildlands. The more than 150 hikes and snowshoes are led by volunteers eager to share their favorite wild place.
Build the Continental Divide Trail
Montana is home to nearly 1,000 miles of the Continental Divide Trail, winding its way from Yellowstone to Glacier. It needs your help! Join our CDT Montana program in the field to swing a tool, move dirt or build a new structure. Projects range from moderate to very strenuous; one day to 10 days; car camping to backcountry. There is something for everyone.
Get Involved Locally
Montana Wilderness Association has six chapters across Montana: Kalispell, Missoula, Helena, Bozeman, Great Falls, and Billings, with a growing number of volunteers in Butte and Dillon. Whether you're homebase is in one of these towns or the surrounding communities, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved locally. Contact your local field office for more info.
Join our State Council
The State Council is a group of volunteers - business owners, students, teachers, accountants, techies, and retirees, as well as hikers, campers, hunters, birders, anglers, backpackers, and photographers - that leads the way for the Montana Wilderness Association. The Council works together to make sure MWA is the best possible organization it can be. Visit our State Council page for biographies of our current members, or contact us today to learn more about joining this fun, effective group of leaders.
Help with our Annual Gathering
One of the best events of the year, our annual gathering is a chance for Montana's wilderness community to get together, swap stories and trip ideas, and learn about the latest campaigns. There are many opportunities to lend a hand! Help with planning throughout the year, or volunteer part of the weekend at the registration table or marketplace, being a greeter, or helping out with auctions. Contact us today to get involved.
